What Does A Black Round Spot On A Mammogram Mean?

I have a family history of breast cancer (sister diaganosed at age 30). I went for a routine mammogram two days ago and noticed on the screen a black round spot (quite large). I have finished breast feeding six weeks ago and when breast feeding could feel a small lump. I cannot feel that lump now. I am very anxious about the black spot on the mammogram screen and am not seeing a breast consultant for approx. three more weeks. Can you advise on this please.

Welcome to health care magic.

1.Black thing what generally seen on x-ray is fat tissue / air.
2.If you are able to feel the lump and there is a black spot - possible cause could be fat containing lump.
3.If the margins of the spot are rounded with clear borders - its more of benign cause.
4.An ultrasound correlation is needed to confirm the finding.
5.If tenderness is there some pain killers would help until evaluate the cause. Good luck.

Hope i have answered your query,
