My wife has given birth to our daughter on the 4th April by C section. She has recently been back for another scan because she felt something wasn t right, they found a shadow on her cervix and has to go back for an MRI scan. What can this be, because the wait is unbearable and driving us both into depression.
The usual cervical change that can be seen in pregnancy is the consistency of the cervix will change, it will become softer than in non-pregnant women. Shadow on the cervix may be due to causes like: -Fluid collected in pelvis after cesarean section. - Local causes like cervical polyps. - Rarely growths from the cervix.
By clinical examination, Pap smear and MRI as advised by your doctor the possible cause of the problem can be identified and treatment can be taken accordingly. If that is pelvic collection due to infection, needs systemic and local antibiotics. Cervical polyps or growths need biopsy and removal. Please discuss these things with your doctor and proceed accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
