Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi doc. Yesterday I did number 2 and I saw blood around the stool. Today I when again and I took one and sliced it up, again a around stool but not inside. Im very scared and don t want to go through that hell again. Four yys ago I had prostate cancer stage two and my screening has come back negative.
I have read your symptoms and i understand your concerns.
One of the main reasons for presence of blood in the stools, especially around it and not mixed with the stools are hemorrhoids. If i was your caring doctor i would do a digital rectum exam to check for hemorrhoids. If this test is negative, than would recommend a colonoscopy to check your colon for any of these problems: -polip of colon -arterial-venous malformation -tumor of colon -diverticul of colon
I suggest you check up with your family doctor to do the digital rectal exam to check for hemorrhoids, and if needed consult a surgeon for the surgery. If the reason are not the hemorrhoids, than you need to consult a gastroenterologyst, do an ultrasound of your abdomen ,a colonoscopy and blood tests.
Meanwhile i suggest you have this diet to help you soften the stools. If the cause are the hemorrhoids,it will help with the symptom of bleeding. -have plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables -whole Grains that are rich in fibers foods include oatmeal, 100-percent whole-grain breads and cold cereals ect -drink plenty of fluids
