What Does 'both Hilum Are Congested' Mean In A X-ray Test?
My father in law, age 57, has undergone angioplasty recently. Doc had asked him to do a chest X Ray and meet him after a week. Chest X ray suggest, BOTH HILUM ARE CONGESTED. Please let me know what does it signify as all other thing mentioned in reports are normal.
The hilum is that part of the chest near the midline where blood vessels and airways enter the lungs. Hilar congestion is seen in conditions where there is increased in flow through the pulmonary arteries or decreased out flow through the pulmonary veins. This happens due to imbalance in pressures of flowing blood due to causes in the heart or lungs. There is no need to worry if he is going for regular follow ups.
