What Does Cholesterol Level 226 In Lipid Profile Suggest?
Hi! I recently received my lipids panel. I am a 41 year-old woman, and here are the results: cholesterol - 226; HDL -109 (35-65); LDL - 13 (Lab 0-40); triglycerides - 64 (0-200); calc LDL 104 (0-130). Should I be concerned about the total high cholesterol level 200+ and the elevated HDL, 65+? (My last cholesterol test was four years ago, and my total chol. was 218, HDL - 74, LDL - 108, and trig. level was179.
Ideally cholesterol should be below 200 mg/dl. With these findings,I suggest diet and life style change to my patients. You should avoid fried and fatty food. You should also increase your physical activity and take lot of fibers in your diet.
If findings persists then tablet atorvastatin 10 mg single dose at night after dinner can be taken. This will correct cholesterol level.
Other parameters are within normal limit.
Get well soon. Take Care Dr.Indu Bhushan
