Hello,..I am a male, age 43 and weigh 195 or less. I was just doing an internet search to find out what the symptoms could be for enlarged veins under my tongue. The colour is dark blue and I can feel that they are enlarged. I looked at them in the mirror and can see the colour, etc. Just wondering what sign it is that something is out of balance. One of the recent changes to my diet is that I purchased Ultra Mega Green Men's from the GNC company. A multiple vitamin and other supplements.
I can understand your concern. You are feeling them and seeing the blue color as something abnormal because you may have never noticed the side of the tongue that rests in the floor of the mouth. What you are seeing in mirror and feeling is very much normal and there is nothing to worry about. The skin of the tongue is very thin which makes it possible to see and feel the blood vessels of the underside of the tongue. They are also very much prone to bleed if hurt.
If you feel some swelling developing on the underside of the tongue, frequent bleeding, ulcers or pain, then a dentist should be seen to figure out if some disorder regarding tongue has set in.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.
