my 17 yr old daughters blood test are showing a 18.1 for eosinophils and a 1.37 for eosinophils absolte and sed rate by modif 19. all are listed as high. This is the second month in row that these are showing high results. What does this mean and should I be concerned/
Hi, Thanks for asking. Yes, it is a matter of concern as increased eosinophil for two months indicate a pathology. The cause could be: 1. Allergy 2. Parasitic infections.
These are common and expected at this age and needs to be ruled out first. Investigations required are: 1. Allergen test 2. IgE antibody level in serum 3. Stool examination
Risk of severe life threatening anaphylaxis could be present in future, if it is allergic cause. Discuss with your doctor and get the tests done.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
