What Does Having Billiary Stones Indicate?

I went to emergency because I had pain in the middle of my breast bone. They did a ultrasound and they had to go through my throat and take out stones and sludge. I don't have a gallbladder, but the doctor said I had biliary stones what does this mean for me?

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Lac of gallbladder does not make you free of stones. Please note that due to some factors (like diet) you are prone to create stones. And when the gallbladder has been removed, stones started to create (or migrated from gallbladder) in the bile ducts. Such stone needs to be removed, otherwise, bile can not flow freely. Moreover, such stone can obstruct pancreas duct and lead to acute pancreatitis.
Luckily for you, such stone can be removed (not always) without surgery. Endoscopy with ERCP procedure. If it will be removed, no further action is necessary. You just need to improve your diet (no fatty foods, no spicy foods, no alcohol).

Hope this will help.
Regards.
