I am a 59 years old woman. I have had no blood in urine, however it was found last August, so I took three urinalysis recently. WBC 11-30 and RBC 4-10 in August 2011. WBC 0-5 and RBC 4-10 in October 2011, and WBC 0-2 and RBC 10-20 in January 2012. What does this means? What are the possibilities of problems?
Hello and welcome to HCM, The interpretation of urine analysis is as follows: Presence of white blood cells (WBCs) is urine suggests presence of infection. There is decrease in white blood cells in urine sample taken from 2011 to 2012. However, the white blood cells in urine suggest infection in the urinary tract. Red blood cells can be present in urine along with white blood cells. You need to consult your doctor with reports. Culture of urine may be required to isolate the organism causing infection. Appropriate antibiotic needs to be instituted after urine culture.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
