Hello,
I recently had a thermal ablation procedure using Microwave ablation on a small tumor in my right lung. This was a metastasis from my previous colon cancer. The follow up PET/CT scan showed enlarged lymph nodes in the 7, 9 and 4r areas which were larger than the average increase in size for most patients in a previous study. Two of the lymph nodes had an SUV of 1.6 and 1.4. This scan was performed 8 weeks after the ablation. Also my CEA increased from 4.7 to 8.0. We are on hold now until the end of September when I will have both the PET and CAT repeated. I am asymptomatic at this time. Any thoughts on this.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Honestly speaking, metastatic lymphnode enlargement is more likely in your case. You already developed metastatic lung lesions, so possibility of these lymphnodes due to malignant spread is more. Size of lymphnode is also large than normal. This is also favouring metastatic lymphnodes. So better to get done repeat imaging of these nodes and if they are enlarging in Size then you will need Biopsy of the nodes to confirm metastatic involvement. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
