What Does Microvascular Ischemic Disease In MRI Report Suggest?
57 yr old brain mri impression, focal areas of increased flair and t2 signal are noted in the left periventricular white matter adjacent to the frontal horn of the lateral ventricle as well as in the deeper periventricular white matter in the left frontal lobe area. these could be due to microvascular ischemic disease, although a demyelinating disease is also possible. note that no abnormal enhancement is noted at these locations. what does this mean.
1.Microvascular ischemic changes are age related changes seen in elderly age. 2.It happens - over some age the small vessels gets thickened and closed and seen on MRI as focal areas / or areas or brain without blood supply. 3.Similar changes are seen in the demyelinating disease due to systemic diseases, and complications. Also seen in chronic alcohol consumption. 4.But in your case the report more suggestive of age related changes. 5.No abnormal enhancement means - there is no growth or abnormal structures, pathology noted - which enhance on the contrast scan - which is good that there is no obvious pathology noted. THERE IS NO OBVIOUS PATHOLOGY - good luck.
Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health. Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
