I have seem many patients with more or less similar
ultrasound findings in many pregnant ladies. The most likely possibility is that this is a normal variant of normal
kidney tissue. it is known as Extra
Renal Pelvis in whichsome part of the renal pelvis outside of renal tissue.
However, there is possibilities of Obstructive cause which is known as PUJ ( Pelvi ureteric obstruction). It is difficult to differentiate between these two conditions in early
pregnancy. Follow up ultrasound in third trimester and after delivery( ultrasound of the baby) need to be done.
If PUJ Obstruction is confirmed at follow up ultrasounds...then i would suggest u consult a neonatologist.....even in that case....it is treatable.
