I just received the report of a recent MRI that stated that I have a large (`11 cm x 8.3 cm x 8.3 cm) multiseptate cystic mass with heterogeneously enhancing solid components in the left adnexa, consistent with benign or malignant cystic ovarian neoplasm. Can you explain in plain english what this may mean?
You have a large spherical tumor like mass in the lower abdomen on left side (the size of a large pear). The features indicate the possibility of either a harmless tumor or a cancer which might be arising from the left ovary or adjacent area. Please do not get worried. There are blood tests like CA 125 and biopsy which will tell if it is harmless or needs aggressive treatment. You need to discuss with a gynecology oncologist. Hope for the best.
