What Does My Lipid Test Indicate?

i just received my results from Labcorp, I was wondering what does it mean for my Lipid panel Cholesterol, total 119mg (range 100-199);Triglycerides 48 (range 0 -149); HDL Chol. 43 (range >39); VDL Cholesterol Cal 10 (range 5-10); LDL Cholesterol 66 (range 0-99). Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I read your question carefully and understand your concern.

I would explain that your blood lipid panel is excellent and indicates that your diet has been very effective in reducing your blood cholesterol and triglycerides.

You need no treatment for this purpose, as you have no cardio-vascular risk related to your blood lipids.

Regardign the low carbon dioxide in your blood it may be related to hyperventilation, induced by the fact that you are obese and need to hyperventilate most of the time.

There is nothing to worry about that.

Regarding the vitamin B12 levels, you should repeat the tests and consult with your GP for a vitamin replacement therapy. This vitamin is really necessary for a normal body function.

Further tests (fibrogastroscopy and some immunological tests), may be needed to establish the cause of this vitamin deficiency, because it may be related to several gastro intestinal disorders or immunological disorders.

Hope to have been helpful!

Best wishes,

Dr. Iliri
