What Does Positive Result In HPT With No Gestational Sac And Endometrium 16mm Shown In Scan Mean?

I did a blood pregnancy test 2 weeks ago, it was negative. I did a repeat pregnancy test today and was positive. I did a scan immediately, but no gestational sac but the endometrium is 16mm. My last period started July 22nd. Though I always have irregular menses, length of about 32 to 35days.

Hello,

You could very well be pregnant. Repeat the pelvic Ultrasound after a week to see the presence of the gestational sac. Also, take serial blood HCG testing done to see if the levels are rising. These evaluations are also important to rule out a possible ectopic pregnancy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal, General & Family Physician
