What Does Presence Of Numerous Bilateral Pulmonary Nodules And Lymph Nodes Mean?
Had a CT scan a week ago and the findings are numerous bilateral pilmonary nodules measuring 7mm in diameter. There are also multiple midly prominent mediastinal and bilateral hilar lymph nodes. Recommend further evaluation to exclude a primary maligency. Also, enlarged paratracheal lymph nodes measuring 11 mm. Is there cause to worry?

Hi, Thanks for asking. Looking at the CT scan report my comments are as follows: 1. Lymphnode enlargement is commonly secondary to infection from a nearby site.
2. As multiple lymphnodes are enlarged and much bigger in size, infection cannot be at multiple spots, so we are looking at a cancer cause.
3. Primary cancers of lymphnode like lymphomas, commonly present with multiple nodes. Fine needle aspiration cytology test if done, can confirm if there is any cancer or not.
4. At present test is necessary for further evaluation. Get the test done and based on results further treatment can be started.
Multiple lymphnodes are always worrisome, so diagnosis is necessary.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
