What Does "Partial Fusion Of D2 & D3 Vertebal Bodies " Indicate?

Hi Doc, how are you today ?? Well i am 28 years old male,my height is 5.5,my question is related with my back pain. Actually i had slipped from the stairs twice and since then i have been suffering from severe pain all over my spine, the pain travels up and down on my spine,I got in touch with the best ortho in the town and he asked me to go for MRI and here is the report below

1) Partial fusion of D2 & D3 vertebal bodies with rudimentary intervening D2-D3 disc

2) Schmrols nodes are seen at D10-D11 & D11-D12 levels

3) Fatty endplate marrow signal changes are noted at D10-D11.

4) Large anterior osteophytes are seen at D10-D12 levels

5) Vertical height of D10-D11 & D11-D12 discs are reduced

6) Conus end at L1 level

The last one is DEGENERATIVE CHANGES IN DORSAL SPINE,MORE PRONOUNCES AT D10-D11 & D11-D12 LEVELS, AND MY ORTHO EVEN SAID THAT MY RIBS DOES NOT HAVE THE FLIUD IN FEW OF MY RIBS

NOW PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT MY MRI REPORT AND THE CURE FOR MY PROBLEM,I HAD BEEN ON MEDICATION FOR A MONTH OR SO BUT THE PAIN DOES NOT GO FOR EVER,I HAD TAKEN MEDICINES LIKE TOLSAFE 150 HS AND ORTHODOX MR

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Your MRI report says the following

1) Partial fusion of D2 & D3 vertebal bodies with rudimentary intervening D2-D3 disc

The D2 and D3 small bones at the back are fused by birth on one side. This is normal and not a worrisome condition.

2) Schmrols nodes are seen at D10-D11 & D11-D12 levels

These are benign appearances of the small bones at levels D 10 - D 11 and D 11 - D 12

3) Fatty endplate marrow signal changes are noted at D10-D11.

This indicates increased fat content in the end plates at level D 10 - D 11.

4) Large anterior osteophytes are seen at D10-D12 levels
This is the appearance of small bony outgrowths at level D 10 - D 12 due to aging probably.

5) Vertical height of D10-D11 & D11-D12 discs are reduced
The discs are degenerated due to wear and tear.

6) Conus end at L1 level
This is a normal finding of the lower end of spinal cord ending at level of L1 vertebra.

You need not worry. Continue taking medications. There is no need of surgery.
