What Does The CT Scan Done On Spinal Cord Mean?

i had a ct scan and was told i have posterior osteophyte disk compleses seen at T12-L1, L1-L2, and L2-L3. It has led to mild flattening indentation of the ventral aspect of the conus. the descending L2 and L3 nerve roots may be compromised. And clinical correlation is recommended. What does all of this mean.

Hello
Thanks for writing to us

According to CT Scan report you have degenerative disc disease of thoraco-lumbar spine.
Degenerative changes occurs in spine due to aging and development of weakness in annulus fibrosis which allows herniation of disc.

1.There are osteophyte disc complexes seen at T12-L1,L1-L2 and L2-L3 level. This is causing mild flattening and indentation of the ventral aspect of the conus. There may be also compression of L2 and L3 nerve roots.

Treatment for degenerative lumbar disease includes physiotherapy or surgery.
Effectiveness of both modalities are same. So,physiotherpay should be tried first. It causes strengthening of Para spinal muscles and it prevents further changes.
Surgery should be the last option.
There are also medicines like capsule pregabalin available for pain relief.
Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurosurgeon.
Get well soon.

Take Care
