My daughter, who is of 36 years old, her CT SCAN of Neck Report is that A cystic well defined space occupying lesion is noted at left submandibular region anterior to sternocleido mastoid and lateral to left submandibular gland. It measures approximately 18 x 11 mm in size.Few lymph nodes are noted at both submandibular region - one of the left side measuring 10 mm in diameter. Being a retired father, kindly give me free advice what to do in this case.
The features mentioned in your query look like a fluid containing area arising from left submandibular salivary gland under the lower jaw on the left side with small lymphnodes on both sides of neck. This can mean an infection or a tumor depending on duration of symptoms. It is best you consult an ENT surgeon and if required general surgeon to confirm the same and take antibiotic medications. If it does not respond to treatment for 15 days and still increases in size then you must get a FNAC or biopsy test done.
