I had a MRI and I don't understand what it is saying...maybe you can help me. C4-5 T2 dark disc with moderate height loss. Small central zone disc osteophyte/protrusion with hyper intense signal in the posterior margin. No vertebral canal or foramina stenosis. ????? Answer please! Thanks,Pain in the neck
Hi, Thanks for using healthcaremagic. You have uploaded the findings of MRI in a cervical spine study. Dark disc means there is dehydration of disc which occurs as degenerative disc changes. Moderate height loss is also degenerative changes and signifies there is some protrusion of disc into thecal sac and spinal cord posteriorly. Hyperintense signal means there is posterior annulus tear. No stenosis means there is no significant compression on your spinal cord/nerves. Overall, you have degenerative changes in your spine at C4-5 level with mild disc protrusion and posterior annulus tear, but it is not causing compression. These changes can cause neck pain but can be resolved with physiotherapy and surgery will not be needed. I advise you to try physiotherapy treatment for this and your symptoms will surely improve soon. Hope it sorts your problem and wishing you a speedy recovery.
