Hello, bilirubin is a metabolic product of hemoglobin. Hemoglobin resides in the red blood cells. It is the molecule that carries oxygen. When red blood cells are destroyed (which happens normally every 100-120 days) hemoglobin is metabolized into bilirubin. Such slight elevations are not clinically significant.
