What Does The Cat Scan Report Of The Brain Indicate?
I am reading a radiologists report from a cat scan.of the brain. It. Says there is global brain volume loss with prominence of the ventricles and CSF spaces and there is no evidence of hydrocephalus and no effacement of the basal cisterns. It also says gray-white matter differentiation is well preserved throughout without evidence of acute ischemic. Patchy white matter low attenuation is nonspecific but likely related to chronic small vessel ischemic change. Intracranial arterial vascular calcification are noted. There visualized paranasal sinuses and mastoid air cells are free of significant opacification. The calvarium appears unremarkable. What exactly is this saying?
Hi, Thanks for choosing healthcaremagic. The main summary of the report is that there is some atrophy of the brain parenchyma which is normal as we are aging. Chronic small vessel ischemic changes are also seen in elderly people without affecting the routine daily life. So, in your case, there is no significant abnormality for which you should be worried. It is just chronic age related atrophic changes. I think there should have an impression/conclusion in the report stating that. Anyways, hope it sorts your problem.
