What Does The Following MRI Report Suggest?

I just received my MRI and the impression addresses 2 items..Moderate disc space narrowing at L-4-L5 with moderate disc bulge and posterior ligamentous hypertrophy resulting in severe central canal stenosis. My concern is the 2nd item with indicates diffusely heterogeneous abnormal marrow signal without focal destructive lesion. Im not sure what this means (I have positive markers for leiomyosarcoma) Do I need an addtional tests

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

There is degeneration of lumbar spine disc between L4 and L5. This is resulting in the disc herniating between the bones. The nerve roots pass through these neural foramina and you might have severe nerve root compression at that level. There is also narrowing of the spinal canal at that level. The nerve pain may be controlled with restricted physical activity and pain relief medication. Please do not do heavy physical activity till you are comfortable.

I have read about a leiomyosarcoma in the lumbar vertebra where a histologic diagnosis was confirmed by transpedicular needle biopsy. This needs to be discussed with your doctor and an image guided biopsy is a simple procedure nowadays.
