What Does The Following MRI Scan Report Indicate?

I work full time but have been off work with pain following fall at work, for 6 months. I have had back pain occasional over the years but since the fall is constant . Told by doctor at my surgery ,nothing is wrong with my back. So what does this report mean. I want to go back to work but bending is very painful and I need to bend in my job. What is Multiple paracentral disc prolapse ?MRI SCAN clinical information - what I want to know is what the words mean Report Degenerative change is seen within the cervical spine, mainly around the C5-C6 level. Some loss of the normal cervical lordosis is noted. Osteodiscal bar formation is seen at this level but features are not causing significant spinal stenois and the cervical spinal cord canal and intervertebral foramina appear adequately patent at all levels. Degenerative thoracic spine changes are noted with multiple paracentral disc prolapse is being seen throughout the thoracic region The thoracic cord appeared normal as was the central cord canal dimensions and no evidence of cord compression at any level. Mild degenerative change is seen in the lumbar region, mainly around L5-S1 level where an associated grade 1 spondylolisthesis is noted. Some high signal change in annulus. At this level is also seen. Annular disc bulging at the L4-L5 is noted but no evidence of significant spinal stenosis or signs of nerve root compression is seen in the lumber region.Comment 1. Degenerative change is seen throughout the visualised spine.2. A grade 1 spondylolisthesis at the L5-S1 level is noted with associated bilateral L5 spondylolyses.3. Annular disc buging at the L5-S1 level is noted with an associated annular tear.4. No evidence of significant spinal stenosis is seen in the visualised spine.5. No active fracture is identified.

Welcome to health care magic.

1.The spine shows degenerative changes - which can be age related or excessive usage or hard working individuals.
2.Straightening is due to the nerve irritation with the disc causing pressure effect.
3.The disc looses hydration and causing bulging as mentioned in your case at different levels.
4.This is causing pressure effect on the exiting nerve root, however its not so much serious at this point as the spinal chord involvement is not much mentioned in the report.
5.At this point you need rest, with back exercises and if no response physiotherapy will be definitive for you. If any option to have new job please try.

Good luck.
Hope i have answered your query,
any thing to ask ? do not hesitate to ask.
