MRI show disc bulge contacting the descending belateral S1 nerve roots without canal compromise. I have had severe leg pain from hip down leg to my foot for over a year. Also upper right quad pain. MRI also show Sacrilization on the right. Desiccation at L#-L4 and L4-L5. Ideas? 45 yr. female 5'5"
There is degeneration of lumbar spine disc between L 3 - L 4, L 4 - L 5 and L 5 - S 1. Dessication of disc implies loss of water content. There is resulting disc bulge between the bones L 5 and S 1. The nerve roots pass through these neural foramina and you might have severe nerve root compression at that level. The nerve pain may be controlled with restricted physical activity and pain relief medication. Please do not do heavy physical activity till you are comfortable.
