my mother has been diagnosed with interval bilateral pelviectasis , she has also been diagnosed with simple renal systs, and a un id entified pole cyst. no evidence of mass leasions or nephrolithiasis is this condition dangerous , all of the things im finding online regarding pelviectasis regards babies as majority of patients
Bilateral pelviectasis is a condition when there is obstruction to the flow of urine from the kidneys to the bladder. In the elderly it can happen due to stones, infections, urinary retention due to neurological problems etc. The cause of the obstruction is important and that must be treated first. At the same time the kidney function tests are important.
The kidney cysts are not significant as with advancing age few cysts are usually seen in both kidneys.
