What Does Thickening Of Tongue In MRI Indicate?

my wife had an mri of her neck and it came back normal except it showed a thickening of the tongue. When we looked at her tongue one side has like some pimples on it that are red the same color as her tongue.

What can this be? We are having the mri sent to an ENT and an Oral Surgeon.

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
The pimple like structure what you are describing is nothing but a circumvallate papillae. If it is enlarged, it can be because of the nutritional deficiency, stress, and trauma. The other cause of enlarged tongue can be because of the allergy resulting in angioneurotic edema or it can be a congenital defect resulting in macroglossia. Nothing to worry. Consult a good oral physician and a maxillofacial surgeon and get it evaluated.
I hope I have answered your query, take care.
