What Eases The Swelling And Discomfort In The Knees, Thumbs And Toes?

Hi, I am a 54 year old Black Female with the sickle trait (S), I have had both knees replaced and I am experiencing my joints swelling. Specifically my thumbs, my big toes, and believe or not my knees. I am awaiting an appointment with rheumotology. Is there anything I can do to ease the swelling and the discomfort?

I am not paying for an online consult. Thanks anyway!!!

Hi and thanks for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms. Having the sickle cell trait is not a possible contributing factor to these symptoms. Consulting with a rheumatologist would most likely get these symptoms looked into and a possible long term solution proposed. For now, you should try cold packs, over the counter pain medications like Tylenol/ibuprofen/etc and gentle exercises to keep the joints flexible. I hope you get consulted soon enough.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for clarification and more information if need be. Thanks for using our services.
