What Induces Frequent Sleep In Diabetic Patients?

my husband is a type 1 diabetic for 30 yrs. If he sits down for more than 10-15 minutes he goes to sleep. He sleeps whenever he is home, at the movies, etc. His gluecose levels are controlled and his A1C level is excellent. Why does he sleep so much?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

His tired state may not be related to his diabetes since it is in control.

There are different causes for fatigue such as: (1)anemia

(2)insomnia or other sleep disorders

(3)uncontrolled chronic diseases

(4)side effect of medication

(5)obstructive sleep apnoea

(6)excess physical exertion

If it is disturbing to him, he may want to consider assessment by his doctor. This would include physical examination and blood tests.

I hope this helps
