Hi,
Steroid drugs are used in the treatment of various inflammatory conditions like arthritis, asthma, allergies, inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn's disease and
ulcerative colitis, Addison's disease, blood disorders, psoriasis, lupus and many more. But, after a single shot of steroid or at times, rapid withdrawal of steroid can lead to a more severe syndrome of
adrenal insufficiency and produce worsening clinical symptoms as well as health issues like drops in blood pressure or very low blood pressure, electrolyte imbalances etc.
Again like other medications this medication has some side effects of its own. It may cause fatigue, weakness, nausea, vomiting, headache, sweating, mood swings, insomnia, allergic reactions like itching, rashes,
shortness of breath,
dizziness etc. If you experience such type of side effects after getting a steroid shot, then you should consult your prescribing doctor immediately for
medical help.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician
