Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just had a urinealisis study done by a lab and it came back that I have a bacteria called 80,000 CFU/ML Enterococcus Faecalis (Group D). What is this? I have been having serious GI Problems For Quite Some Time (Nausea, Severe Diahrea, Vomiting, Fever. Dizziness and very tired) Could This Cause those symptoms and what can be done to get rid of this Bacteria?
Hello and welcome to HCM, The urine analysis report is showing the presence of infection in urine. The infectious agent is bacteria called Enterococcus faecalis group D. This is bacteria which causes gastrointestinal infection. The infection can spread to involve the urinary tract also. As you have mentioned that you are also suffering from symptoms of gastrointestinal infection i.e. nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, fever and dizziness. Thus, the bacterial infection has involved both urinary tract and gastrointestinal tract. An antibiotic therapy is required to treat the infection. A drug sensitivity will determine the most appropriate antibiotic for the enterococcus infection. You need to consult your doctor for drug sensitivity and prescription of antibiotic.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
