Hi,
Noted a short history about your husband having
snoring, breathing problem with coughing as you have explained.
Surely yes, he should be treated.
The treatment depends upon the cause found after the following:
First of all to consult an ENT Surgeon for clinical evaluation, examination and ENT
Endoscopy to know the possible cause.
This can be due to enlarged tonsils.
Loose
palate and lateral pharyngeal wall causing fluttering.
DNS that is deviated nasal septum
Adenoids.
Polyps in nose and so on.
This is investigated by the Sleeping Endoscopy,
MRI study to confirm the cause.
In some cases reducing weight, nasal drops and such medical measures will help.
In some cases a corrective surgery may be needed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
