What Is The Cause Of A GI Bleed?

I received 2 knee injections (cortisone) yesterday. Several weeks ago I had a GI workup with multiple biopsy sites including removal of benign polyp in my stomach. Is it possible that either thing could cause a GI bled. Last night i vomited undigested food, that looked like bright red blood was in it. Towards the end, it was only bright red blood. I was initially dizzy, but have had no other episodes.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Fresh blood in vomiting is called hemetemesis and can be due to gastric ulcer, ulcer or tear at the esophago-gastric junction due to forceful vomiting.
This may be due to steroids and/or polyp recurrence or forceful vomiting or esophageal varices.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Urgent upper GI Endoscopy to know the exact cause and get treated as needed.
Till then get started with a PPI like Omeprazole, antacids every three hours, particularly when on empty stomach.
Ultrasonography of the abdomen and color doppler.
I find this answer helpful
