A recent cat scan shows a shadow in the area of my navel. I have had two hernia surgeries in the past. My doctor ordered blood work and said the results would determine if he'd do a biosopy or not. What will the blood work tell him? As of now he's thinking scar tissue. Thanks
Anterior abdominal wall surgery often is repaired with mesh. There can be healing granulation tissue growing over the mesh. At times the mesh may move and cause pain and infection. This is the reason your doctor wants to get blood work done before he can think of doing a biopsy.
