What Is The Cause Of Swollen Red Cheek, Face And Neck?

My daughter, age 47 has swollen cheek and redness on swollen part. She is taking anibiotics (2nd time) with different antibiotic. Swelling doesnt seem to be going down after over 24 hrs on new antibiotic. She has had thyroid cancer- had thyroid removed years ago, Face very swollen and neck seems bigger also.

I would have liked to know the symptoms associated with the swelling which would have given me a clue whether it is due to an infection. If it is painful, tender then most likely it is due an infection.

I would advice that you continue with the oral antibiotic for the next few days. 24 hours is too short a time to assess its efficacy.

Topical antibacterial ointment like 2% mupirocin twice daily would help in addition

An OTC pain killer like ibuprofen twice or thrice daily will help in overcoming the pain and swelling
