Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recently taken a cholesterol blood test. Results are Cholesterol Serum 205 mg; HDL Cholesterol Serum 41.0 mg; cholesterol hdl ratio 5.0; ldl level 104 mg; VLDL seru 60mg; triglycerides serum 299; non HDL cholesterol 164 mg. How bad of a shape is this? Are they any vitamins that can help with this, such as niacin? I really don t want to go on medication if I don t have to.
hello, I have gone through your query. Thanks for using HCM. Your serum cholesterol should be below 150 mg,LDL should be below 100 and triglycerides below 200 mg.Your HDL which is good cholesterol is very good i.e.41. Niacin is useful only to raise HDL which is not needed by you.Otherwise you must take medicines from statin and fibrate group to maintain target of cholesterol i mentioned earlier. My best wishes Dr.Rajesh Teli,MD
