Patient: Yogliang Tian Procedure: MRI LUMBAR Reason for study: Pain in limb MRI lumbar spine performed without contract including T1, T2 sagittal images, T2 axial images. Findings: Surrounding study soft tissues are unremarkable. Numerous Tarlo cysts noted in the sacral region, these up to almost 2 cm in size. Other surrounding soft tissues are unremarkable. The distal spinal cord and conus medullaris are unremarkable. Individual levels of spondylitic disease are described below: T11-T12: there is a broad-based annular bulge, Mild central spinal narrowing. T12-L1: Broad-based annular bulge, Mild central spinal narrowing. L1-L2: Unremarkable level. L2-L3: Focal annular bulge to the left. Left lateral recess narrowing. Mild effacement of the anterior thecal sac on the left. L3-L4: Annular bulge. Mild bilateral lateral recess narrowing. Mild right greater than left neural foraminal narrowing. L4-L5: There is a broad-based protruded HNP. Mild to moderate central spinal narrowing. Significant right greater than left lateral recess narrowing. Moderate right and mild left neural foraminal narrowing. L5-S1: Annular bulge. Mild central spinal narrowing. Left greater than right lateral recess narrowing. Impression: Spondylitic disease as discussed.
According to report, you have degenerative disc disease of thoraco-lumbar spine. Degenerative changes occurs in spine due to aging and development of weakness in annulus fibrosis.
Majority of the cases of degenerative spine disease are benefited by physiotherapy,so physiotherapy should be tried first. Surgery should be the last option. There are also medicines like capsule pregabalin available for pain relief.
Tarlov cysts(also known as perineurial cysts)are cerebrospinal-fluid-filled (CSF) sacs located in the spinal canal of the S1-to-S4 region of the spinal cord. Its treatment depend upon many things like size, symptoms etc.
Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurosurgeon.
