What Is The Life Expectancy Of Someone With Acute Pancreatitis?

Hi My friends husband is 70 yrs old.He has been in hospital since end on November 2013 .He has severe acute pancreatits. They are draining 1.5 ltrs of bile a day for the last 10wks,it had bits in it at first but now its just dark green. His stomach and legs are very swollen,he is vomiting daily. He had 1.5ltrs drained from his left lung yesterday but he is still very breathless and he is having x ray today as they think the lung filled up again immediately. Is this very serious and if so are his chances of survival slim ?

This is very serious especially at his age. There are many factors that determine whether or not he will recover and his doctors could give you the best opinion about his recovery. I can tell you that his age and the long course of his illness make it less likely that he will recover.
