Hi there. I have been diagnosed with a burst dorsal vein in my penis. This was discovered after an exploratory examination under general anaesthetic. The blood vessel was repaired but due to the nature of the op I had to be circumcised too. I have two questions: 1-I have a lump at the base of the penis (where the repair was done I think). Will this lump go away. It gets larger when I get an erection. 2-I didn't really want to be circumcised and I think the doc has given me a loose circumcision which has resulted in part of the skin covering half if the glans. The disolvable stitches are therefore covered as they are at the base if the glans. I am in day 16 post op and there seems to be no sign of the stitches dissolving and nocturnal erections are quite painful due to the stitches. How long will it take for them to dissolve or do I need to get them removed? Am I too early to be thinking of this? Thanks
Hello Thanks for query. You have undergone surgery for repair of dorsal vein of penis which was torned which necessitated to do circumcision and accordingly partial circumcision was carried out . Now as regards your queris i wuld answer them point to point 1) The lump that you notice aat the base of penis on erection is a dilated tributary of superficial dorsal vein of penis and please note that it is not going to harm you as for as sexual activities are concerned.
2) The suture material used is absorbable suture like Vicryl which takes 3 -4 weeks to get absorbed completely .
Do not attempt to remove sutures .They will get absorbed once the wound heals up completely till then have patience .
You make take tab Alprozole once at night to avoid getting erection during sleep. Dr.Patil.
