I went to the emergency room last night because of cramping I am 6 weeks and 3 days pregnant. According to sonogram they could not detect fetal heart tones and that I had a collapsed yolk sac. What does this mean and am I really having a miscarriage? Also I have not bled at all just cramps.
You need follow up scan after 2 weeks. At this gestational age, transvaginal sonography is more sensitive to detect fetal heart beat. There may be technical limitation in trans abdominal sonography, may be due to excess maternal fat, early gestational age of the fetus etc.so,Don't worry and go for repeat scan. Hope i have answered your query.
