What Is The Reason For Change In Nature Of Periods After Delivery?

I am 47 years old. I always had very easy ( normal flow, very light cramping) periods until my youngest son was born 9 years ago when it became very heavy and painful. This month, my period is approximately 3 weeks late and this one is very light and the blood is thick and dark.

Hi,
From history it seems that you are in pre-menopause period.
Due to hormonal changes occurring at this stage gives rise to early or late, more or less period.
Nothing to worry, gradually your period will stop as menopause comes.
Ok and take care.
