What Is The Reason For Death Of A Toddler Whose Preliminary Autopsy Result Revealed A Twisted Bowel And Hernia?
19 month old healthy male toddler died at home, no symptoms. parent states that preliminary autopsy result revealed that a twisted bowel and hernia were the cause....and that the rectum was septic. No fever. No GI symptoms at all. Eating/drinking fine. Went to bed at 8pm.....dead by 1030pm. What can I read about to learn more about this.....seemed fast and very unexpected......the doc at ER stated that no symptoms in this case did not seem unusual. ???? Any thoughts?

Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about the passing away of this toddler. A twisted bowel and hernia is very unlikely to have gone by without symptoms. I will find it very difficult in this case to believe that this child had no symptoms. The parents are probably not involved in the death of this child but I fear that this child's symptoms were may be neglected and not addressed. It is very difficult to imagine the complete show because even an adult cannot stand the pains associated with this probable findings.
I hope you find this helpful. Thank you for using our services and please feel free to ask for more information if need be. I wish you the best of health. Dr. Ivo, MD.
