What Is The Reason For Faster Heart Beat And How Can I Prevent This?

Why doea my heart beat really fast for no good reason, I am 15, can it be due to stress or something? I am healthy as far as i know in every other aspect. It only happens for very brief periods of time not tol often but it happens and I want to know what this means, why, and what I can do to prevent it?

Dear young patient,

Thanks for the query. the most common cause of palpitations are premature beats, but sometimes you can have a sequence of abnormal beats called an arrhythmia; if the symptoms are bothersome or worrying, then an external monitor of the acitvity of the heart called a Holter can be worn for 1 day or so, and determine what your heart does during those "accelerations"
