What Is The Reason For Hard, Red Lump Under Skin On Mons Pubis?
I have a recently developed (2-3 days max) cyst/lump type abscess on the mid-right area of my mons pubis, right where the pubic hair grows. It is red/purplish and a bit tender. It is hard underneith, almost directly under the skin, and there is no sign of a head/entrance to this abscess. It is about dime-sized, if not a little bigger. There seems to be a newly formed, blister type hole on the top layer of skin directly over this bump. It causes minimal irritation. I am a female. I am in a first-time, monogamous relationship with another female. Niether of us have had this symptom before, that we can recount. What could this be?
I would keep a possibility of Furuncle which is a bacterial infection of the hair follicles.
In such a case it is advisable to take an oral antibiotic(penicillin or cephalosporin group) for a week.
An OTC antibacterial ointment twice daily for a few days over the lesion would help in faster as well in resolving it faster.
You can take an OTC painkiller like ibuprofen once or twice daily for pain and discomfort that it may be causing.
Take care regards
