I have gone through your query regarding tonsillitis, ear pain and excess salivation in your father who is suffering for last 4 days and as per his doctor s he is taking clarithromycin. Here I would like to say that all symptoms of your father are due to acute inflammation of tonsils. Acute follicular tonsillitis always gives severe pain in throat and this pain is so that patient can t swallow his saliva so frequently as normally does, this is the reasion of apparent excess salivation. The pain in ear is also a referred otalgia which is most of the time we get because of the same innervation of sensory supply of the two organs.
