Hi Good Morning, My wife 37 weekes pregnancy is complete and on 16th (16/5/2011) we had a scan and the fetal parameter was BPD - 84.4 mm (34 wks 0 day) HC - 314.9 mm (35 wks 2 days) AC - 297.2 mm (33 Wks 5 days) FL - 69.4 mm (35 wks 4 days) HL 62.0 mm (35 Wks 6 day) again we had scan on 26/5/2011 which shows P.O.G -37 week 1 day and the fetal parametres are mention below: BPD - 88.6mm(35wks 6 days) HC - 322.6mm(36wks 3 days) AC - 300.1 mm (34 wks 1 day (reduced) FL - 74.5 mm (38 wks 1 day) doctor done internal examen , she told that head of fetus is not comming down, and she suggest to admit, then they will create artificial labour pain, we baby not come then they will go for caesarean. Also she claim that fetus is not healthy kindly suggest 1- Should we wait for some more time after considering above two scan parameter?? 2 - IS fetus is really week??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI,
I understand your concern.
while planning for induction of labor.. uaually baby weight & amniotic fluid index are considered, which are not mentioned in the reports you have provided.
Yes, if baby growth / weight is less.. & other parameters including amniotic fluid index, fetal heart sounds are normal / no signs of fetal distress/ mother's health ( specially blood pressure ) is normal... doctors usually prefer to wait till full term pregnancy ( 39 weeks ) while monitoring pregnancy by frequent pregnant check ups & USG scans as per need.
Thanks.
