What Is The Suggested Medication For Uti And Can Femring Be Taken?

I am a healthy 75 year old female , post total hysterectomy, no breast ca history, no dementia. I have had over 50 UTI s after bladder mesh repair 8 yrs. ago. It was finally solved by using Estrogen patchs smallest doesage once a week. Medicare has now refused to cover this r/x. I have vaginal atrophy without the estrogren and fear the reoccurence of uti s. Would you recommend I use the Femring ? thank you.

Hello and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, i can fully understand and share your concern.
Femring isn't advisable at your age, with recurrent UTI's.
The cause for recurrent UTI's must be found out.
After examination by an Urologist,and certain tests, like creatinine,sugar,urine culture,ultrasound abdomen with residual urine,and a cystoscopy, He'll will advise further treatment. Drink 8-10 glasses fluids daily. Maintain good genital hygiene. If you've any doubts,send it as a direct question to me.
