Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was diagnosed with COPD some 8 years ago and have coped with it quite well. However, for about four months now I have been sweating in my head and upper body during the night, so bad that I get my nightgown wet and have to wash my hair almost everyday. Is this caused by the worsening of the COPD?
Hello, I think this sweating may be due to medications you used for COPD. Usually the long acting beta2 agonist like salmeterol or formeterol and theophylline may cause such sweating. Again it may be due to anxiety or panic attack which is a common co-morbid condition in COPD. So you need to visit a chest specialist to undergo thorough check-up, routine blood examination, electrolytes, fasting plasma glucose and an ECG to properly evaluate your condition. Thank you.
