you must be taking these meds from a
psychiatrist. you have been given a diagnosis of attention deficit
hyperactivity disorder with bipolarity specifically depression and some
obsessive compulsive symptoms.
1. adderall is brandname of the drug amphetamine or
dextroamphetamine, which is a psychostimulant drug and it helps in your deficient concentration. usually it shud be taken in the morning which helps u pay attention to your work and studies. u shud take sustained release preparation of the medication which releases the drug slowly and helps u for longer duration like 8 to 10 hours
2. anothe thing is about your depression, u have been prescribed cymbalta which is a antidepressant duloxetine [SNRI] which elevates your mood from the down side, and also helps relieve your depressive feelings and helps u concentrate in work.
3. i dont know exactly your diagnosis, but if u are given depakote then u must have some manic or hypomanic symptoms, and if u have hypomanic symptoms taht are very mild as compared to manic symptoms, u dont need to take both antidepressant and
mood stabilizer [depakote]. instead u shud take
lamotrigine or quetiapine for your bipolar depression. but u have improved with your meds then u shud continue them, dont stop without permission of your psychiatrist.
4. important thing i want to tell u that, for your obsessive symptoms as well as your depression u can take only one medication in higher dosage, that is prozac [
fluoxetine 40-60 mg]. which is a drug of choice in both depression and OCD.
so, for your mother "your son is taking all these meds as per advise of a qualified psychiatrist, he shud continue taking these all meds for his well being, because if he stops these then his illness will come back and he wont be able to work, to take care of himself and of u. he will require a lot more time to recover, so as per my advise let him take medications and perform his duties.
