What Is The Treatment For Hip Pain Osteoarthritis?
How do I know whether my rt hip cronic pain is due to osteoarthritus or to nerve pain from Spinal Stenosis or Brown Sequard (weak left leg, no temperature sensation on right leg). I've gotten 2 opposite opinions from the city's best orthopedists. One says to replace hip, the other says it won't help to do so and he sent me to a physiatrist (spelling?) who had additional spine MRI's done. He concluded the stenosis was causing the hip (or buttock, as he calls it) pain. The 3 epidurals did no good. Nothing has. Brown-Sequard from 1963 when neurofibroma removed from C5-6. Leg muscle pain began around then. Hip pain begain rather suddenly, about 15 years ago. I don't have a good neurologist. Thank you.
Thank you for the question. If spinal stenosis is confirmed by MRI you need further assessment for muscle power charting and sensory examination of leg and thigh combining electro-physiological studies. Also x ray of hip for OA.If your symptoms are progressive weakness, one may consider surgical options for stenosis. X ray hip will determine extent of OA and treatment may be physio and anti-inflammatory medications for now.Voltaren 50 mg Thrice a day and Dolo-neurobion once a day , both after meals.Rotation of hip joint is painful IN OAand this can be tested physically by a doctor. For long standing loss of sensations some medical conditions like you mentioned may have caused and probably stenosis correction may help revival to some extent over a period of time
